PhilK International Up And Running

Phil Knell, PhilKInternational.com

I spent some time today with Phil Knell, teaching him some internet fundamentals so that PhilK International can be launched soon.

We both agreed that many participants in the World Internet Summit were ill-equipped to implement some of the programs they had signed up to. It’s easy to say “leave the technical things to your techie”, but most people starting out on an internet business either can’t afford to pay someone or don’t yet have the contacts to call upon for help.

There’s an untapped business potential here.

Norwood High 20-Year Reunion

Last night, I went to my first-ever 20-year reunion for the class of 1988 from Norwood Secondary College.

Of course, back in 1988, it was still known as Norwood High School. Joan Kirner had not yet wreaked her havoc on the Victorian school system.

Here I am with Karalyn, one of my Year 12 English students from 1988.

A good night, all in all, even though I didn’t get to have a conversation about politics with anyone. I think young Kennaway might have been up for it but there was too much noise.

I’d put the picture of me with former colleagues Mick Wilson and Ern Horgan here but the flash failed in its duty and the picture is mainly shadows. A good thing, perhaps!

In a number of respects, the night reminded me of the one-third rule that I used to present to students. One-third may have remembered me fondly, one-third were reminded of why they hated my guts, and the other one-third didn’t recognise me and couldn’t care less about it.

Of course, the rule works both ways…!

Budding Internet Entrepreneurs Do Coffee

I seem to be drinking a lot of coffee lately. It happened again today when I met with the Melbourne members of Debra Thompson Roedl’s course.

Apologies to Phil and Pauline, but I only remembered to take a picture after they left.

This is Gunter and Tess:

Our discussion covered many subjects, including mechanical matters such as merchant accounts.

Phil and I were keen to compare notes on our success with our Adsense real estate. We’re meeting next week to work on our respective collections.

Unfortunately, Colleen was unable to make the meeting, otherwise we would have had a full turnout.

In response to her email today, I notified Debra of our support group. She made mention of us in her weekly webinar.

Ebook Writers Gather!

This is a picture of me with Anne, Norm, Greg and Pam.

Malcolm Farnsworth, Anne, Norm, Greg & Pam

We met at Brew’s coffee bar in Hughesdale today to discuss progress on the ebooks Anne and Pam have agreed to write.

Anne, a family therapist, is working on an ebook about families dealing with addiction problems. She has extensive experience in this area over many years.

Pam, a teacher and educational consultant, is writing a practical guide for parents coping with children afflicted by ADHD. Her career in education has been marked by an interest in children who have difficulty coping in traditional school environments.

Pam and Greg are about to jet off to the Netherlands for their daughter’s wedding. Anne and Norm were heading up to Mansfield for a short break. I headed off to another meeting.

Brew is an excellent place to meet. You can read a review here.
